We had to use a back-up
Generator using a very limited Amerigas gas supply. We repaired a damaged pump and
purchased a new back-up pump. As a result we now have a 500-gallon Amerigas supply(with an
estimated supply of up to 24 hours) and have been advised by Amerigas that we have a pending
request with the Town for approval of a 1,000 gallon tank.
I understand that we must receive a' permit or some form of approval from the Fire Department.
Can you check on the status of our request with whatever Town Department may be responsible.
We were advised by Amerigas that they submitted a request to the Town but I am not aware of
the date of submission or the status of the review. Please note that a 1,000 gallon tank should be
able to provide up to 48 hours of back-up energy in the event of another power interruption. With
the hurricane watch in effect, it is more important than ever that we increase our supply of gas.
Longer term,we may consider asking the National Grid to directly attach the gas supply to each
of our three generators. I'll get more information if you request it.
I have copied our engineering contractor, Coler&Colantonio and our Management Company and
maintenance personnel in the event that they wish to modify or add to my characterization of the
current situation or the earlier power surge event.
Shelly Gilbert
