(LAI) <br /> Re: Groundwater Nitrogen Treatment— NitrexTm PRB <br /> Groundwater Nitrogen Treatment <br /> The LAI scenarios proposed removal of wastewater nitrogen sources only. The NitrexTm PRB has <br /> the added benefit of treating all sources of groundwater nitrogen - including the land use portion. <br /> As can be seen from the Table 1, between 15% - 55% of the total required removal is from land use <br /> nitrogen. This situation offers the potential to treat a significant amount of groundwater nitrogen in <br /> lieu of collection, treatment and dispersal systems. Also, the Land Use Loads are significantly <br /> larger than the treated wastewater Return Loads, which represent the nitrogen returned to a <br /> watershed through dispersal of treated effluent. This indicates that there is no need to locate <br /> remote dispersal sites if sufficient land use nitrogen load can be treated — thereby increasing <br /> dispersal/reuse site selection flexibility. <br /> Table 1 also shows that the nitrogen removal requirement associated with buildout is a significant <br /> percent of the total N-removal requirement, which may affect the timing of needed nitrogen removal <br /> improvement. <br />
