BOARD OF LEBRARY TRUSTEES MIEETING <br /> TUESDAY,MARCH 119 2014 <br /> MASBPEE LIBRARY CONFERENCE ROOl <br /> Present: Patricia Gamache,,John Koval ski,Carlo I 'Este,and Sandra Lahart. <br /> Absent: diary LeClair,Chip Bishop, and Sue McGarry. <br /> Also Present: Kathy Mahoney—Library Director <br /> Patricia Gamache, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 5 p.m. <br /> t <br /> ApH <br /> t <br /> royal of Minutes...Tbled for next Library Trustees Meeting. <br /> Reports <br /> Kathy Mahoney's Library Director's Report was reviewed and discussed. <br /> 0 Kathy noted the trig jump in circulation for the month of February. <br /> 0 Kathy provided a copy of the year-to-date expense budget report for FY-14. She also advised of the <br /> current balances in the Revolving ing and Donation accounts. <br /> 0 interviews for Circulation Assistant position will be next week. <br /> Library Office Manager posting will be closed next Thursday. The Office Manager position will be a <br /> Monday-Friday,9-5 position. <br /> Town Manager,Director of Human Resources, and Kathy will meet again in 90 days to evaluate <br /> operations.. <br /> Jack Kowalski advised that he and Kathy attended an MBLC MLS sponsored workshop on March <br /> conceming library foundations. Jack said the information presented raised some questions about <br /> donation solicitation process and Kathy said she will check with MBLC to clarify. <br /> 0 Chuck Gasior,FinCorn member, suggested the Library ask to be considered as an applicant for a grant <br /> jointly.sponsord by the American Libraries Association'and the FM Inventor Education <br /> Foundation. Kathy said we were invited to apply for a grant. The gant applicafion is due in June. <br /> Kathy wil l work on app]kation and will take advantage of Chuck Gasi is offer to assist in any way. <br /> Jack Kowalski said perhaps the'Trustees might suggest some ideas. Sandi Lahart inquired as to the <br /> amount of the grant. Kathy said the grant is in the range of$5,000-$100,000. She said for our <br /> municipality size, she was advised that$60,000 would be a maximum,and could be lower. <br /> Kathy reported that she went to the Friends' Board meeting on March 6 and responded to their request for <br /> fundraising projects. Kathy said she presented suggestions-namely: a Friends' sponsored concert series;a <br /> year-long project that would coincide with the Lib's 5t"birthday; and landscape beautification project for the <br /> grounds. Kathy said all 3 ideas were very well received,especially the concert series/musical programs. <br /> If the concert series is adopted as the project,the Friends would fund the project and library staff would do the <br /> planning and publicizing of the events. 'The Friends might.help by organizing refreshments. <br /> The Trustees were very impressed with the suggestions Kathy offered and the Trustees were enthused about the <br /> musical programs and the landscape and beautification project to coincide with the 5hbirtbday event.: Saadi <br /> Lahart commented that perhaps the school musical groups could be part of ther usical program. <br />
