Reports <br /> Kathy Mah ney's Library Director's Report for the month of April was reviewed and discussed. <br /> • In discussing the energy budget at the Library, Sue McGarry asked whether the Solar Panels are going <br /> to be checked to ensure operating effectively. Kathy responded that someone comes from the Solar <br /> company each year to do an inspection. It was pointed out that everyone's energy costs were high this <br /> past year and that all power companies increased heir rates. <br /> * Kathy provided a copy of the new"Welcome to the Library'brochure. All Trustees were very pleased <br /> with the brochure. <br /> • Kathy advised that she spoke with David IelVecchio IT Director)about establishing a replacement <br /> schedule for Library computes. Chip.bishop commented that it is good to have a recycle PC plan so <br /> they don't all have to be replaced at one time. <br /> Kathy is working on the LSTA grant that is due Friday...all requirements have been fulfilled. <br /> Town. ot a grant for AIs(defibrillators)purchases...Library included in the grant. <br /> 0 Volunteer brunch will be held May I". <br /> Policy Updates <br /> meeting with the Town Manager,DPW Director,Recreation Director,and Council <br /> Kathy advised she attended <br /> on Aging Director to discuss meeting room and building use. Kathy gave the Trustees a copy of the Town of <br /> Mashpee Facilities Use Procedures and Fee Schedule. Kathy said the Town Manager explained that fees <br /> charged are used to help defray costs of expenses such as carpet replacements, etc. <br /> Kathy said many Town buildings are open for meetx.ngs on the sarnc nights and the Town would like to <br /> consolidate to reduce the costs. To cut expense.-Catherine Laurent will schedul a-after-hours meetings for Town <br /> buildings. Kathy said the Library doesn't have after-hours meetings. <br /> For the Library, it would be a philosophical change to charge for use of the Library. Chip said we are a free <br /> Ou.blic library. We should make our facilities available for free. Current Library policy provides,among other <br /> things,that Library conference rooms are not available to"for profit"gr ups. <br /> The Trustees had a lengthy discussion that resulted in their agreeing to review the existing Library Meeting <br /> -Room Policy against the Town Facilities Use Policy and discuss recommendations at next Trustee.Meeting. <br /> Kathy will e-mail'the casting Library'Meeting Room Policy to the Trustees. <br /> i - <br /> o1 e 3 U d ...Jack Kowalski said he saw Leslie Marsh today and she is anxious to get going on the <br /> o i(c)(3). <br /> Communications <br /> Mike Richardson advised: <br /> 0 New Fire Chief Torn Rullo appointed. Approval given to hire Assistant Fire Chief. <br /> • Annual drug return to be held April 26. <br /> 0 Housing Assistance gave an award for the Mashpee Big Fig event. Bary LeClair added a comment that <br /> Soo volunteers were from Mashpee. <br /> 0 Kathy Mahoney and Mike Richardson working on Mashpee Cares. Focusing on prescription drugs <br /> now. <br /> Wellness Event at High School. <br /> 0 Tag line"It's not going to start at my house"has really caught on. Purple kids will hand out magnets at <br /> Town Meeting. <br /> Rolling out gun control. <br /> Started"Something About Mashpee"on Mashpee TV. <br />
