Approval of Minutes - The minutes of the January 28, 1997 meeting were <br /> i <br /> accepted as presented. <br /> Open Fora There were no presentations, <br /> 3. Mr. Feldman announced that Molly Reis has resigned as a council member <br /> due to ill health. <br /> 4. The Chamber of Commerce breakfast was successful. We received positive <br /> responses for volunteerism. Some activities are already underway, e.g. <br /> The Junior Achievement Program. <br /> . Career Day ws a very successful event. Thank you letters have been seat <br /> out to participants. <br /> . Dennis Donovan will be helping to launch a "Theme of the Month" event <br /> next year and we hope to conduct a few activities before this year ends. <br /> 7. After-school math programs suggested by the Coombs School, run by Lisa <br /> Harrington and Leisure Services have been excellent* <br /> 81 Our sixth grade has taken the Math League test, 1s participating In <br /> Project RE-SEED and Creat Books. <br /> 9. Many staff members will be involved in the WON-Way phonics program this <br /> summer. <br /> t The Grade 5 mural project based on our social studies units are nearing <br /> completion. <br /> 11# Ir. Feldman discussed the budget at $10.9, $10.6 and $10.3 million. Some <br /> f the cuts involved under the smaller figures are in the areas of <br /> technology, library services, professional development, secretarial <br /> support, enrichment programs and equipment. <br /> 1 . The Coombs School Council continues to keep class size as a priority. <br /> 13. It is expected that the capital improvement fund will cover the necessary <br /> work on air quality issues at the Coombs School. <br /> 14. The next meeting originally scheduled for May 8th has been changed to <br /> May 1st at :30 P.M. <br />
