There was no one present for open Forum. S <br /> 2. The minutes of the lurch 29th meeting were unanimously approved. <br /> . Nick Feldman updated the council on the grant application and the school budget <br /> issues. <br /> . A lengthy discussion was held regarding the Massachusetts Coalition for.the. <br /> Advancement of Learning (MCAL). Bob Sinclair, a Dean at UMa s A nherst, is <br /> * heading up MCAL and will be working with K C. Coombs, as well as I 1 other schools <br /> in Massachusetts, to enhance the school environment and to ensure that the schools <br /> are not responding solely to the MCAS tests. K. C. Coombs will be involved in a - <br /> year conmtment with MCAL. ` <br /> As a starting point, lick handed out a memo outfiruong two areas of concentration: <br /> Develop a unified, pontinuous approach to strengthen Ming skills of all of our <br /> students. <br /> Formulate a course of action that strengthens cooperation between parents and ' <br /> teachers in the learning of students. <br /> . In addition to the two areas detailed above, the council also discussed 3 other areas <br /> that will be included in an outline for next year'sp plan. <br /> hl.im rvent Those <br /> areas are: <br /> 0 Retaining the K-6 model <br /> einstftution of the afferschool programs <br /> 0 Development of critical thinking skills for all of our students <br /> .
