Members in attendance were: Louise Doyle, Kathleen Fenney, Los Hirshberg,
Dianne Cook,Linda Kot, and Laurtta Leone.
No one was present for Open Forum.
The minutes of the March 26. 2001 meeting were read. Lois Hirshberg made a
motion to amend the mutes to include "no one was present for Open Forum". Dianne
Cook seconded the motion and the minutes were amended. The amended minutes were
approved. lotion to accept the mutes was made by Kathleen Penney and seconded by
Dols Hirshberg. Unanimous.
yrs. Doyle informed the eonunittee that the price of lunch had been raised $0.45
t 1.75. This price will b effect until the end of the school year at which time the
Food Services contract will go out to bid. Mrs. Doyle has not received any comments
about the increase from parents.
Lois Hirshberg reported that the School Committee appeared to be very
supportive of the format for the revised report card. Thre was some concern what effect
switcbing to a tri-semester report card would have on Parent Teacher Conferences. Nor.
Fleury questioned the cost of issuing the revised report card. The School Committee did
not take a vote on the matter.
There was a discussion with the council on how to increase the amount of tirne
allotted for Parent Teacher conferences and still stay compliance with the Teachers
Contract. The "Agreement of the Mashpee School Connnittee and the Teachers
Association" does not state that 2 of the contractual evenings must be used for
.conferences. The"Agreement"only states that 1 of the evenings is to be used for Open
House.
One possibility to accommodate the conferences may be to use 2 or 3 early
dismissal days and I or 2 evenings. The early dismissal days would be possible as
M shpee Elementary Schools attend more school hours than are required by state law.
