Coombs School <br /> School Council Meeting <br /> January 16, 2002 <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:33 PIIS in the K.C.C. conference room. <br /> Present at the ineeting were: Louise Doyle, Kathleen Penney, Linda foot, Paul Smith, <br /> Greg Taylor, Carolyn Ryan, Karen Murphy, Alison Robbins, Diane Cook, Jennifer <br /> LeFavor and Jey Si ith. <br /> 1. Minutes ofthe December 4th meeting re approved with rrxnor revisions. <br /> Unanimous. <br /> 11. Budget Update <br /> Copy room clerk may not remain in the budget. <br /> There may be a reduction in the number of kindergarten classes next year <br /> depending on registration numbers. <br /> Transitional fill class will be capped at 15 students. <br /> ' <br /> .2 clerical/educational secretary w processed through the office of <br /> Grace Day. <br /> .5 nurse's assistant will remain in the budget at this time. <br /> ' Kndergarten assistants will go through the regular budget process. <br /> (147 school systems in MA have full day kindergarten. 118 of them came into <br /> existence through grant funding. <br /> It was mentioned that there may be some groups in Mashpee that may want to cut <br /> the Full day K program to a half day prograrn in order to save money. <br /> According to accreditation guidelines, the teacher/student ratio for K is I.10 for 20 <br /> students; l:I I for 22 students; 1:1 2 for 24 students. K.C.C. operates at a l: l <br /> ratio. <br /> The .C.I.L.P. Program is for a select group of students with severe <br /> learning dila i ti s. Next year, K.C.C. will have 9 students in this <br /> program, spanning three grade levels. Because of L.R.E. laves, we must <br /> mainstream these students. <br /> It was suggested that P.T.O. may be able to make parents aware of these valijable <br /> K programs. The.K accreditation survey regarding the K prograrn in 1 ashpee was <br /> overwhelmingly positive. Parents of the community are very satisfied with the K <br /> program. <br /> Next phase of the budget is to reduce the budget in accordance with the bottom <br /> line figure. <br />
