KC. Coombs School School Council Meeting March 13, 2002 The meting was called to order at 6:35PM in the K.C.C. conference room. Present at the meeting were: Louise Doyle, Kathleen Penney, Diane Cook, Greg Taylor, Alison Robbins, Linda Kot, Karen Murphy and Jennifer LeFavor. I. There weren't any open forum items on the agenda. II. Minutes of the February 6th meeting were approved. III. School Budget ,/'Will soon be finalized and presented to the School Committee. ✓K.C.C. needs to cut $80,000.00 from their budget and submit to the central office on Monday. J No new positions are anticipated, and there is a question regarding the status of one kindergarten class for next year. V Supply will be tremendously effected. We will send home a list of necessary supplies by grade level. The school will absorb the cost for children who cannot afford necessary supplies. Staples will compile a list of district supplies so the parents will know what to purchase for their children. We may petition P.T.O. for personal supplies for each student. Science materials will also be effected, however,, consumables such as the butterfly farm will be taken from the general supply budget. ✓ $6,000.04 was reduced from the kindergarten. ,/Every account has been effected and reduced. V Kindergarten assistants may be reduced to half-time next year, resulting in a $601,000.00 savings in salary and benefits. Approximately 65 kindergarten registrations as of March 13ffi . There were SS attendees at Mrs. Gould's kindergarten presentation. Second Step training will be held on Saturday, March 9"'. Kindergarten utilizes an impulsive puppy hand puppet and a slow snail hand puppet to use through the Second Step program. The program highlights empathy, impulse control, and anger management. It was suggested to have the Second Step parent video play on the Maslipee Educational Channel. It was noted that the Safety/Security package would impact our budget next year. Copiers are another "big ticket" item that we tried, unsuccessfully, to get into our capital improvement.
