K.C. Coombs School <br /> School Council Meeting <br /> October 9, 2002 <br /> The meeting was called to order t 6:35 l in the I .C.C. conference room. <br /> Present at the meeting were: Louise Doyle, Linda Kot, Jennifer LeFavor, Kathleen <br /> Penney, Carolyn Ryan, and Daren Tessicini. <br /> 1. There weren't any open forum items on the agenda. <br /> Il. Student placement and driveway repair will be our priorities this year in regards <br /> to the school improvement plan. The entire staff will receive the K.C.C. mission <br /> statement and copies of our school improvement plan. We will also post the <br /> mission statement on the I .C.C. website. <br /> ##1 Academie Accountability —We will concentrate on reading, writing, and <br /> math with an in depth concentration of each. A literacy study group with Ann <br /> English will begin Thursday, October 174'. In October, we will notify parentsf <br /> an informational meeting regarding our math program. A kindergarten teacher <br /> will conduct an investigations lesson while a first grade teacher will conduct a <br /> math lesson, In January will we notify parents of an informational meeting <br /> regarding our won way program. <br /> #2 Safety and Security —The security package age vias cut from our budget due t <br /> budget constraints. The teachers and the volunteers have their security I.D. <br /> badges. we will conduct another CHUP Program this year. the'-issues include: <br /> Playground <br /> Second Step Program <br /> Murals throughout the building <br /> Cafeteria and recess rules <br /> Handicapped parking spaces <br /> New dismissal procedures <br /> Benches by the playground to be installed with the help of an eagle scout, <br /> Replacement of some doors i.e. door by the Science room and office doors.) We <br /> will invite Brad Fripp to our next meeting. Laminators also need to he replaced. <br /> #3 Communication —P.T.O. is still very strong this year. BINGO night was <br /> very successful. we will continue our monthly newsletter and our specialists' <br /> newsletter. Guidance also distributes a monthly newsletter. Guidance will also <br /> present our Second Step Program to the School Committee as part of our -year <br /> revision cycle. Emit C personnel will be trained on various issues throughout the <br /> year such as student behavior and Second Step. Jey Smith also conducts Special <br /> Education coffees, two times a year. <br /> #4 Facilities —we will invite Brad Tripp to our next meeting. Our facilities plan <br /> goes on from year to year. we are still in reed of lockers and cabinet space, <br /> especially by the new shover in the nurse's office. � <br />
