K C Coombs School � <br /> School Council Meeting <br /> January 27, 2003 <br /> The meeting was called to order at 3:40PM in the conference room. <br /> Present at the meeting were: Louise Doyle, Linda Kot, Jennifer LeFavor, <br /> Kathleen Penney, Carolyn Ryan, Karen Tessicini, and Alison Robbins. <br /> I. There weren't any open forum items on the agenda. <br /> H. Physical Education proposal by Marge Mitchell <br /> Mrs. Mitchell is proposing a physical education class beyond the once <br /> a week classes. This class will be for students, who have not mastered <br /> certain skills with a level of confidence and control. By giving <br /> students in need extra instruction, they will be able to develop these <br /> skills to a level of competency. Students will practice such skills as <br /> eye-hand coordination, dynamic balance, static-one foot balance, <br /> gross motor and fine motor balance, and other areas of physical <br /> development. <br /> 1. Mrs. Mitchell will assess students who are in need of extra <br /> instruction. <br /> 2. Parents will be notified if their child is eligible to attend an extra <br /> gym class. <br /> 3. Attendance is strictly voluntary. <br /> 4. Every child in need of these services will receive help. <br /> 5. 100 — 150 children may attend this extra circular class over the <br /> course of the year. <br /> 6. More thought and planning will be given to this matter. Also gym <br /> time vs health time <br /> III. Minutes of the December School Council meeting were approved <br /> unanimously. <br />
