Kenneth C. Coombs School <br /> School Council Meeting <br /> March 121, 2003 <br /> (KCC conference room) <br /> The meeting was called to order at 3:42PM in the conference room at the <br /> Kenneth C. Coombs School. Present at the meeting were Louise Doyle, Linda <br /> Kot, Diane Cook, Kathleen Penney, Karen Te s sic IM' and Alison Robbins. <br /> I. OPEN FORUM <br /> Liz Hendricks and Calean LaCroix are parents of children at the <br /> Kenneth C. Coombs School. They attended the meting to express an <br /> interest in volunteering in the classroom beyond kindergarten. Mrs. <br /> LaCroix also presented research information about the benefits of parent <br /> involvement in their child's school system. This information stated that <br /> parent/family involvement in a school system would promote social, <br /> emotional, and academic growth. These parents hope to work with their <br /> child's teacher to find out ways they can contribute to the classroom and <br /> their child's education, yet always be sure to stay within the guidelines the <br /> teacher provides. <br /> More time and discussion will be given to this matter. <br /> III. APPROVAL OF FEBURARY MINUTES <br /> February minutes were approved with minor revisions. Unanimous <br /> 111. SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN <br /> C.H.I.P.S. ( Child identifi cation Program ) will be held at the <br /> Kenneth C Coombs School on March 28, 2003. Mr. Sapers will be <br /> the person responsible for training all those people involved in this <br /> program. The trauung will take place'on March 13, 2003. <br /> An ice cream social will co-inside with the C.H.I.P.S. Program. <br /> Families are welcome to bring all siblings to this event. Dental <br /> identification and fingerprinting will begin-at 6:00. Several cameras <br /> will be stationed in'the up stairs classrooms. Finger prints and dental <br /> Identifications will be in the down stairs kindergarten classrooms, on either <br /> side of the building. <br />
