ICC School Council Meeting <br /> Minutes <br /> Thursday, 3-11-04 <br /> Art Room <br /> I The meeting was called to order at 3:50 pm. There was no one for the Open Forum. Not <br /> present at the meeting were Allison Robbins, David Pocknett, and Patricia art lornei. <br /> II The February minutes were read. Becky Roml ey accepted the minutes, and Calean <br /> LaCroix seconded that motion. The minutes were unanimously approved. <br /> III Budget Update <br /> I. Mrs. Doyle reported that to date Administration is looking for$600,000 <br /> to corer the costs not covered on the proposed level-funded budget. <br /> $100,000 was proposed from the Selectman, which lessened the original <br /> $700,00 figure to cover increases. <br /> . The School Committee is still looking at `creative cuts' in funding. <br /> . School Council members are encouraged to attend the School Committee <br /> Finance meeting on Wednesday March 17"' at 7pm in the MHS library. <br /> There were some additional questions by the council members that were discussed. <br /> These included why these cuts are proposed at the elementary level and not at the high <br /> school level and why the cuts proposed are toward stafffirst before other non-academic <br /> cuts have been exhausted. <br /> III KCC School Handbook Review <br /> The Council discussed the Student/Handbook and any changes, additions, or corrections <br /> that they thought world be appropriate. Subsequently, the Handbook will go to the <br /> Handbook Review Committee. <br /> Iv Calean LaCroix presented discussion on parents volunteering in classrooms. Parents <br /> wish to re-visit the issLIe of volunteering in their own ild's' classrooms. They have <br /> asked for a compromise on this issue- letting teachers choose if they want parents in the <br /> room or riot. She also wanted clarification on what VolUnt ening on a `reg L11ar basis' i S. <br /> The meeting adjourned at :o pm.
