ICC School Council Meeting Minutes Thursday, 3-11-04 Art Room I The meeting was called to order at 3:50 pm. There was no one for the Open Forum. Not present at the meeting were Allison Robbins, David Pocknett, and Patricia art lornei. II The February minutes were read. Becky Roml ey accepted the minutes, and Calean LaCroix seconded that motion. The minutes were unanimously approved. III Budget Update I. Mrs. Doyle reported that to date Administration is looking for$600,000 to corer the costs not covered on the proposed level-funded budget. $100,000 was proposed from the Selectman, which lessened the original $700,00 figure to cover increases. . The School Committee is still looking at `creative cuts' in funding. . School Council members are encouraged to attend the School Committee Finance meeting on Wednesday March 17"' at 7pm in the MHS library. There were some additional questions by the council members that were discussed. These included why these cuts are proposed at the elementary level and not at the high school level and why the cuts proposed are toward stafffirst before other non-academic cuts have been exhausted. III KCC School Handbook Review The Council discussed the Student/Handbook and any changes, additions, or corrections that they thought world be appropriate. Subsequently, the Handbook will go to the Handbook Review Committee. Iv Calean LaCroix presented discussion on parents volunteering in classrooms. Parents wish to re-visit the issLIe of volunteering in their own ild's' classrooms. They have asked for a compromise on this issue- letting teachers choose if they want parents in the room or riot. She also wanted clarification on what VolUnt ening on a `reg L11ar basis' i S. The meeting adjourned at :o pm.
