MASHPEE COMMUNITY GARDEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MCGAC) <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> OCTOBER 17, 2018 - 7:00 P.M. <br /> MASHPEE TOWN HALL <br /> Present: Virginia Scharfenberg, Pamela McCarthy, Mohamad Fand, Michael Talbot, <br /> Anthony Oliver, Irene Checkovich, Stephanie Simpson <br /> Others Present: Richard DeSorgher, Mashpee Historical Commission <br /> Call to Order <br /> Virginia Scharfenberg opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES — September 26, 2018 <br /> Motion: Michael Talbot moved to approve the September 26, 2018 minutes, seconded by Pamela <br /> McCarthy. Vote 7-0 <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE <br /> REPORTS <br /> Report on progress with preparation of proposal for Community Preservation Committee (CPC), due <br /> November 1, 2018. <br /> Letters of Support and others to be requested—Michael Talbot <br /> Richard DeSorgher, Historical Commission, stated the Historical Commission will be meeting next <br /> week and at that time a vote will be taken to support the Community Garden. He noted there was no <br /> opposition and would be able to get the letter of support to the Committee following their Thursday <br /> meeting. <br /> Virginia stated they are also waiting for a letter of support from Catherine Laurent, DPW but she has <br /> not responded. <br /> Michael Talbot stated Mashpee Environmental Coalition (MEC) has already approved the project and <br /> as president he will draft a letter of support. <br /> They will also seek support from the Historic District Commission. <br /> Michael stated he will ask Katelyn Cadoret, Assistant Conservation Agent, to write a letter of support <br /> on behalf of the land steward program. <br /> Richard DeSorgher reviewed the plans for the Attaquin lot. They are planning to put up a <br /> Revolutionary War Monument. He noted there are no war memorials except for the one in front of the <br /> Baptist Church which is not complete. They received $15,000 from the State and then went to the <br /> CPC and received matching $15,000 plus $7,500 to develop a master plan. He said Wayne Taylor and <br /> Catherine Laurent and the Board of Selectmen suggested making it part of Phase I. Phase 1 is to do all <br /> wars and put a memorial that would list the names of everyone in all of the various wars. He said they <br /> 1 <br />
