MINUTES —NOVEMBER 16,2016 <br /> MASHPEE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE <br /> -MA HPEE TOWN HALL :00 p.m. <br /> Present: Robert Wooldridge, Charles l aintanis, Michele Brady, Sidney Davis <br /> Called to Order: The meeting was called to order at 2-.05 p.m. by Chairman Robert Wooldridge <br /> Update status of effort to provide handicapped access to the beach at the New Scabury <br /> Beach Club <br /> The Chairman stated the handicap ramp at the New Seabury Beach Club is on track and is <br /> scheduled to be completed before the 2017 season begins. <br /> Discuss the latest information on the handicapped parking situation. <br /> The Chair noted he hasn't heard from.the Town Manager Rodney Collins after Mr. Collins met <br /> with representatives fi-om Mashpee Commons. He noted nothing has been done with the parking <br /> situation b the Post Office or behind Sienna.. The situation is unchanged as of mid-Januar <br /> 2017. <br /> The Chair stated he will be sending a note to Mary Lou Palumbo, Executive Director of the <br /> Chamber of Commerce and Catherine Laurent, DPW Director, to remind people responsible for <br /> plowing not to plow snow into handicap parking spots and curb cuts,, <br /> Discuss disabled access in the Mashpee Commons expansion area <br /> The Chair commented on the handicap access at the Mashpee Commons expansion area. He sent <br /> a note to Mr, Peronti atMash-pee Commons to see if we eo ld take a tour of the area and Mr. <br /> `eronti responded denying the request since they are in the construction.phase. There was a <br /> lengthy discussion regarding the access to the apartments and handicap parking and the <br /> topography where these units are being built. It was generally agreed to contact Jeff Dougan, <br /> Mass. Office on Disability to let him know of our concerns and to see 1f they have any kind of <br /> review process going forward. The Chair will contact the Disability Law Center to request thein <br /> assistance in obtaining a copy of the latest site plan. Also, the committee discussed a proposal to <br /> invite the Town Manager, Building Commissioner and Mashpee Commons representatives to a <br /> future meeting to discuss our concerns. <br /> Discuss the DOJ Implementation of ADA Amendments dict of 2008 <br /> The Chair noted these amendments took effect at the end of October. <br />
