/ Yf f 4 J 1I <br /> Estuary short-term (ongoing) intensive water quality and shellfish quality monitoring to check near- <br /> term performance following MEP established protocols for estuary water quality and health. <br /> MEP flushing and stream gauge monitoring necessary to update MEP TMDL compliance points. <br /> • Groundwater/drinking water supply quality. <br /> Q Groundwater mounding analysis through localized modeling. <br /> Long Term Monitoring and Modeling <br /> • Each of the existing and proposed treatment facilities that have MassDEP groundwater discharge <br /> permits have various monitoring requirements (including but not limited to): <br /> — Daily monitoring of flow, pH, disinfection, and turbidity. <br /> — Weekly/monthly monitoring of flow, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total suspended <br /> solids (TSS), total nitrogen (TN), and possibly total phosphorus (TP). <br /> — Groundwater monitoring well data (typically quarterly); upgradient and down gradient of <br /> recharge facilities. <br /> • MEP estuary monitoring and modeling (land and hydrodynamic): <br /> - TMDL Compliance. <br /> — Long-term trending of standard MEP water quality parameters, <br /> -- Eel grass surveys typically provided by MassDEP. <br /> - Benthic habitat surveys (if required). <br /> ® Shellfish/Estuary Monitoring: <br /> — Long-term compliance monitoring performed following the same MEP protocols to measure <br /> estuary health. <br /> — Shellfish monitoring in compliance with Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) requirements <br /> depending on end use of shellfish. <br /> -- Sample analysis including shellfish physical characteristics (length, weight, etc.) and nitrogen <br /> content <br /> ® Groundwater quality monitoring through existing drinking water supply wells (as required by <br /> MassDEP and Environmental Protection Agency), and groundwater monitoring wells (as required <br /> by groundwater discharge permits issued by MassDEP for wastewater treatment facilities). <br /> A more extensive list is provided in Chapter 10. <br /> ES.6.2 Compliance Reporting <br /> As part of the implementation of the plan, each implementation phase will be incorporated into a <br /> compliance document related to Mashpee's efforts in achieving the TMDLs. Depending on the <br /> requirements established by the regulators, this document may need to reference or be referenced by the <br /> neighboring communities as part of their compliance reporting.
