Mashpee Affordable Mousing Committee Meeting Minutes September 5, 2017 at : o pm Mashpee Town Hall Present: Chairman Allan f shit , Walter Abbott, Berkeley Jolmson, Bruce Willard Also Present: Mary waygan-Planning Board Absent: Marie Stone CALL TO ORDER A Chairman f sbitz opened the meeting at 6-.35 p.m, with a quorum and the roll was called, Mr. Abbott made a motion to add to old Business a discussion about member Marie Stone. Mr. Willard seconded the motion. hairr-nan 1 sbitz inquired whether mernbership matters were appropri ate agenda items. Board Secretary Jennifer Clifford noted that the TownClerk's office had, in the past, advised thi�t new items of significance not be added to an agenda during a meeting, Mr. Johnson recommended that the Committee send a written communication to Ms. Stone. Chairman Isbitz expressed his preference to contact Ms. Stone on behalf of the Committee. Mir. Abbott reminded the members that to he appointed to a Town committee carried with it a requirement for regular{attendance at its meetings. Chairman fsbitz said he would contact Ms. Stone and report back at the next meeting, Mr. Abbott made a motion to move up Item 1 under New Business, the presentation on 243 otuit Road after the approval of the minutes. lir. Mr. Abbott seconded the motion. yes, I abstain NE's BUSINESS 243 Cotuit Road Proposal-The project development team, consisting of Domingo Pena, Jacqueline D. Hancock, the Owner of Record, and Tefry Smith Pena, were present to discuss their proposal. Plan sets were distributed to members of the Conimittee. Mr. Pena stated that he had been in contact with Torte Fudala and an engineer, who recommended the bul'1ding style, which was similar to Gifford Street in Falmouth. He said that Leila.Botsford told him she supported the project, Mr, Pena stated that the project was affordable at the break-even point and had been scaled down to 8 deluxe rental units at close to 1,800 square feet each. Mr. Pena emphasized that the working population of Cape Cod needed affordable housing options that were larger in size and a good place to raise a family. Mr. Abbott inquired about Mr. Pena's target audience, to which he feferenced Ms, Botsford's backlog of 7- 10 years-worth of potential tenants. Ms. Smith Pena, a real estate agent, indicated that there was a lack of inventory for affordable sales or rentals, for three bedroom homes.
