Mashpee Affordable Mousing Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> September 5, 2017 at : o pm <br /> Mashpee Town Hall <br /> Present: Chairman Allan f shit , Walter Abbott, Berkeley Jolmson, Bruce Willard <br /> Also Present: Mary waygan-Planning Board <br /> Absent: Marie Stone <br /> CALL TO ORDER A <br /> Chairman f sbitz opened the meeting at 6-.35 p.m, with a quorum and the roll was called, <br /> Mr. Abbott made a motion to add to old Business a discussion about member Marie Stone. Mr. <br /> Willard seconded the motion. <br /> hairr-nan 1 sbitz inquired whether mernbership matters were appropri ate agenda items. Board <br /> Secretary Jennifer Clifford noted that the TownClerk's office had, in the past, advised thi�t new items <br /> of significance not be added to an agenda during a meeting, Mr. Johnson recommended that the <br /> Committee send a written communication to Ms. Stone. Chairman Isbitz expressed his preference to <br /> contact Ms. Stone on behalf of the Committee. Mir. Abbott reminded the members that to he appointed <br /> to a Town committee carried with it a requirement for regular{attendance at its meetings. Chairman <br /> fsbitz said he would contact Ms. Stone and report back at the next meeting, <br /> Mr. Abbott made a motion to move up Item 1 under New Business, the presentation on 243 <br /> otuit Road after the approval of the minutes. lir. Mr. Abbott seconded the motion. <br /> yes, I abstain <br /> NE's BUSINESS <br /> 243 Cotuit Road Proposal-The project development team, consisting of Domingo Pena, Jacqueline D. <br /> Hancock, the Owner of Record, and Tefry Smith Pena, were present to discuss their proposal. Plan <br /> sets were distributed to members of the Conimittee. Mr. Pena stated that he had been in contact with <br /> Torte Fudala and an engineer, who recommended the bul'1ding style, which was similar to Gifford <br /> Street in Falmouth. He said that Leila.Botsford told him she supported the project, Mr, Pena stated <br /> that the project was affordable at the break-even point and had been scaled down to 8 deluxe rental <br /> units at close to 1,800 square feet each. Mr. Pena emphasized that the working population of Cape <br /> Cod needed affordable housing options that were larger in size and a good place to raise a family. Mr. <br /> Abbott inquired about Mr. Pena's target audience, to which he feferenced Ms, Botsford's backlog of 7- <br /> 10 years-worth of potential tenants. Ms. Smith Pena, a real estate agent, indicated that there was a lack <br /> of inventory for affordable sales or rentals, for three bedroom homes. Ms. Smith Pena further <br /> described the.prTopo sed units as two bedroom, with the potential for a third bedroom <br /> (loft/office/bedroom space), as well as a garage and full basement, of'f'ering storage space.
