Page 11 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 10, 1997 <br /> MMR IS SIMS; <br /> Selectman Caffyn suggested that 1lashpee host a meeting for the <br /> Upper Cape communities to further address long range planning, <br /> health issues, and the proposed expansion for training to develop a <br /> thorough understanding of activities related to the military base. <br /> In other business, Selectman Caffyn indicated that Jacob's Engineering <br /> should be encouraged to hire and train local residents. She suggested <br /> that representatives update the Town with regards to the new technology <br /> center, and proposal to site the state prison in this area. <br /> Selectman Marsters,agreed,and recommended the Board obtain a report <br /> from Jacob's Engineering to fully review the project scope. <br /> Selectman Caffyn also requested that Foothills Engineering, the <br /> engineering flan hired by the government on behalf of the four Upper <br /> Cape towns provide a report to the Board, and perhaps be placed on <br /> the Selectmen's agenda to discuss IIIA issues. <br /> Ma me Commons Fact Finding Committee: <br /> Selectman Dinizio, a member of the Board of Selectmen's fact finding <br /> ad hoc committee formed to meet with representatives from 1 la tepee <br /> Commons Limited Partnership to review development proposals indicated <br /> that the Cape and Islands District Attorney's office has dismissed a <br /> complaint that a meeting violated the state's open meeting law. <br /> Selectman Dinizio stated that Assistant District Attorney l&chael Trudeau <br /> has ruled that the meeting of January 15, 1997 did not violate state law. <br /> We will strive to live up to the intent of the open meeting law to continue <br /> to move forward on behalf of the Town of Mashpee indicated Selectman <br /> ini io. <br /> The Board of Selectmen voted to form a Selectmen's fact finding <br /> subcommittee on September 16, 1997. The board of directors of the <br /> Mashpee Taxpayers Association accused the Selectmen's subcommittee <br /> of violating the open meeting law by meeting behind closed doors, and not <br /> giving public notice of the meeting. <br />
