} Page 3 Board of Selectmen Minutes March 13, 1997 FY98 BUDGET-WORKSHOP: Diane l ommelmeyer,Town Accountant,was present to review the FY98 budget with members of the Board of Selectmen. The Board reviewed the prelirninary budget report as dated and adjusted through March 13, 1997. Selectmen's Sal mag It was noted that the line item increase reflects contractual obligations. Select=n Communication; Increased as a result of rate and usage fees. Selectman Caffyn suggested to develop a policy for personal use of municipal telephone lines, and further review usage and methods to decease charges *n an effort to reduce budgetary constraints. The use of an additional line for the Economic Development Coordinator will be considered. The Board also approved the installation of a second line to improve the efficiency of the Town Accountant's Office, Econgrru*c D 1 rn n • Selectman Diniio recommended the Board allow the Economic Development Coordinator to attend a National Economic Development Council workshop relative to public and private partnerships to benefit taxpayers. He will research the enact figure for the one week course, This matter will be Meld by the Board for additional review and consideration. Finance.Committee Exmn e: T e Finance Conurtittee requested the Bow insert the sum o $6,000 to the Finance expense account for the purpose of mailing the Town Meeting warrants to the citizens of Mashpee. It was noted that Town Meeting endorsed this proposal. The sung of$5,000 was taken from the reserve fund for the above. Finance Committee Expense: $6,000- Reserve Fund: $95,000 Personn l5;flaZd&g&,- To support the operations of the Personnel Department, the sura o $11,915 will allow the part-time Administrative Clerk to become a full-time employee to service the Personnel Department. Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to remove Article#17 as proposed for the above from the Town Meeting warrant. No second. Motion does not carry. Data Processing Expense: It was noted that the Finance Committee is supportive of the increase to the Data Procmng Expense account. The increase in office supplies relates to the entire operation of Town computers in an effort to control distribution and expenses.
