DeMoura, Superintendent of Schools,and School Committee <br /> r members,Theresa Cook,Janice Mills,Kathleen Lynch, and Maryanne <br /> Macdonald were present to discuss the FY98 School budget with members <br /> of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> A lengthy discussion followed. Dr.Delloura indicated that the School <br /> Committee has submitted three budget scenario's for the Board's <br /> consideration consisting of; $10.9, $10.6, and $10.3 million dollars. <br /> whritenour,Executive Secretary recommended the Board appropriate <br /> the sura of$9.7 to the School Department budget for FY9 . An override <br /> may be necessary to provide for next years growth in the School budget, <br /> and to maintain the Town's budget informed Mr. whritenour. <br /> It was noted that the Finance Committee voted to approve a$9.4 budget <br /> ti for FY9 . <br /> 4:15 p.m. Ms. Macdonald and Mrs. Bills left the meeting. <br /> Discussion continued. Nfi s. Lynch stated that the School Department <br /> would have to charge for athletic,music and extra curricular activities <br /> if the budget were less than$10 million. Our major concern is unknown <br /> special education costs informed Mrs.Lynch who added that there is <br /> little time to prepare for an override this year. <br /> -4 <br /> Motion made by Selectman Frye to appropriate the sure of <br /> $9,'700,000 into the omnibus budget for the School <br /> Department for FY98,, <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Caffyn, <br /> ' VO Unanimous. 5.0. <br /> The Board recommended the School Department provide an override <br /> request to the Selectmen no later than April 7, 1996. <br /> It was noted that a override would reflect in a tax increase of 9 . <br /> R+ <br />
