Page 4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 12, 1997 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Appointment of Cemetery Study Committee Member: <br /> Communication was received from the Greenwood Homeowners' <br /> Association dated May 2, 1997 requesting that they be granted a seat <br /> on the Cemetery Study Committee. <br /> James A. Morgan was the unanimous choice of the Greenwood <br /> Homeowners'Association for appointment. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to appoint James A. <br /> Morgan to the Cemetery Study Committee as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Frye. <br /> TE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Education Reform,Formula,, Req.uest,for Additional Funds: <br /> Selectman Dinizio indicated that Mashpee residents,Francis and Douglas <br /> Drew began the initiative to lobby State Legislators for additional <br /> educational support and grant funding. <br /> A petition on behalf of 410 citizens has been obtained to date from this <br /> endeavor, It was noted that the School Committee also obtained 450 <br /> signatures from residents attending the Annual Town Meeting. <br /> Selectman Caffyn suggested that additional blank petitions be placed in the <br /> Office of the Town Clerk and Library to support the request for additional <br /> grant funding. Mr. Whritenour was directed to copy the petitions the <br /> Board has attained, and forward the originals to Senator Rauschenbach <br /> for direct distribution. <br /> Wildlife Refuge: Parking Facility: <br /> To comply with requirement set forth in the Self Help Program grant, <br /> a small gravel parking lot will be placed off of Great Oak Road informed <br /> Selectman Costa. It was noted that the parking area will lead into the <br /> Town owned portion of the Wildlife Refuge, and will be completed by <br /> June 1, 1997, <br /> Mashpee Commons Review Committee: <br /> Selectman Dinizio indicated that the Mashpee Commons Review <br /> Committee has scheduled an Open Meeting on Wednesday,May 14, 1997. <br /> Dan Marsh, a local development consultant will attend the meeting to <br /> assist the Town in negotiating a scope of services to employ the firm <br /> of T. J. Martin. <br />
