Page 1 <br /> F <br /> I <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 7, 1997 <br /> i <br /> Present: Selectman Costa, Selectman Marsters, Selectman Dinizio <br /> Executive Secretary Robert Whritenour <br /> Assistant to the Executive Secretary Joyce Mason <br /> Absent: Selectman Frye, Selectman Caffyn <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Costa at 6:30 p.m. <br /> Town Hall, Meeting Room#1. <br /> APPOEVrMENTS AND BEARINGS: <br /> Counly De artment of Health &Environment re: Certificate Presentation: <br /> Charlotte Stiefel,Underground Storage Tank Program Coordinator <br /> for the Barnstable County Department of Health and the Environment <br /> presented a certificate to the Board of Selectmen for compliance with <br /> underground storage tank regulations. <br /> The Mashpee Fire Department was commended for their efforts to enforce <br /> environmental regulations pertaining to fuel storage. <br /> CYnthia Stur es re: CommunityDevelopment Block Grant Application: <br /> Cynthia Sturges, Community Development Administrator was present <br /> to discuss the components of the FY97 Community Development grant <br /> fund with members of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> To maintain eligibility, the grant must benefit low and moderate income <br /> households informed Ms. Sturges. Under consideration for inclusion, <br /> is the application to renovate and expand the Town's recreation building <br /> located at Heritage Park. <br /> An additional 2520 square feet will be constructed to expand the building <br /> to service an additional 185 children informed Ms. Sturges. It was noted <br /> that the grant application is similar to what was applied for last year, and <br /> contains added detailed information pertaining to the renovation. <br /> Included in the grant application is the sum of$40,000 to provide public <br /> service to develop and operate additional child care programs through the <br /> Leisure Services Department indicated Ms. Sturges. <br /> Access to affordable daycare is a critical need in the Town of Mashpee <br /> explained Ms. Sturges. Presently, there are 745 children residing in <br /> Mashpee under the age of five years. <br /> A Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday,July 9, 1997 at 6:00 p.m. <br /> in Meeting Room#1 of the Town Hall to further review the grant <br /> application informed Ms. Sturges. <br />
