,i Page 11 Board of Selectmen Minutes September 8, 1997 MMR IS SUES: Selectman Caffyn indicated that ethylene dibromide(EDB)was recently detected in the surface water in the cranberry bogs along the Quashnet River. EDB is a component of aviation fuel. Selectman Caffyn requested the Board support the use of Bill Fisher, the Town's environmental consultant to brief the effected Town Department Heads and other officials about the contamination. A tentative meeting has been scheduled at 4:00 p.m. at the Town Hall with Mr. Fisher of Woodard&Curran on Tuesday informed Selectman Caffyn. Discussion followed. It was noted that information relative to the tainted cranberries was forwarded to Town Counsel. Motion made by Selectman Frye to retain Mr. Fisher to follow up on this matter on behalf of the Town as requested. Motion seconded by Selectman Caffyn- VQ][ : Unanimous. 4-0. Selectman Dinizio abstained. It is the consensus of the Board to develop protocol to govern emergency and official meetings to include posting requirements and minutes. In other business,the Installation Restoration Program(IRP) meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. at the Base. The Senior Management meeting will be held on the same date at 6:30 p.m. at the Quality Inn in Falmouth informed Selectman Caffyn. Selectman Frye will present a proclamation for the Food for Friends Food Drive Day on behalf of the Board of Selectmen. ADLQJMkMffiNT-: Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to adjourn at 5:08 p.m. The Board will enter into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing correspondence from Town Counsel, and potential litigation. The Board will not resume in open Session. Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. VOT : Unanimous. 5-0.
