Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> September 29, 1997 <br /> Present: Selectman Costa, Selectman Frye, Selectman Marsters, <br /> Selectman Caffyn, Selectman Dinizio <br /> Executive Secretary Robert Whritenour <br /> Assistant to the Executive Secretary Joyce Mason <br /> Meeting r r by Chairman Costa at 6:05 p.m. <br /> Town Hall,Meeting Room#I <br /> Aff OMEMENIS AkM BE <br /> Financ mi <br /> The Board of Selectmen met jointly with the Finance Committee <br /> for the purpose of reviewing the Annual Town Meeting warrant. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to Article#9,to appropriate <br /> and transfer from available funds, a sum of money to offset the <br /> fiscal year 1998 tax levy. <br /> The article willp rovide funding from available revenues to meet the <br /> Town's budgetary obligations for the current fiscal year within <br /> thero rty tax limitations of proposition 2 1/2, and to provide <br /> p � <br /> taxpayers with the second year of a three year property tax relief <br /> program. <br /> Mr. Whritenour,Executive Secretary recommended the Town <br /> adhere to the three year tax relief plan mapped by Town officials <br /> to use reserves for costs associated with the high school through <br /> the year 2000. <br /> Based upon estimates available,Mr. Whritenour recommended <br /> that the sure of$1,500,000 be used to offset the tax levy. The tax <br /> rate would increase by 5.68%to$15.06 per$1,000 valuation. <br /> Alec Wa Chairman of the Finance Committee indicated that <br /> his committee voted to use$2,400,000 from reserve accounts <br /> to offset the tax levy.
