Board.of Selectmen <br /> Minutes d <br /> November 3, 1997 <br /> P • <br /> r Paul Lumsden suggested the Selectmen discuss school bus stops <br /> r, � s p <br /> and safety precautions with the Mashpee Police Department. <br /> a Ed Baker indicated that he is in support of the Mashpee River petition <br /> to protect the interest of the Mashpee River. <br /> The Board expressed deep regret to the recent passing of John Peters. <br /> Mr. Peters was known as"Slow Turtle",and was the Medicine Man <br /> of the Mashpee wampanoag Indian Tribal Council. PA <br /> i <br /> r <br /> ■ <br /> --Maah=Rim Peta <br /> k'? <br /> a <br /> Edward Sinkiewicz read aloud a petition signed by more than 200 <br /> a residents who have requested the Town take action to save the Mashpee <br /> W s. <br /> River. <br /> F' <br /> F. <br /> The Selectmen are requested to renew the request of July 19, 1995 <br /> to undertake appropriate actions to identify the causes for the previous y <br /> z defined unacceptable condition of the Mashpee River and further request <br /> the introduction of effective measures to restore the estuary to its natural <br /> condition. <br /> Mr. Sinkiewicz resented recent pictures of the river, and an aerial photo <br /> p <br /> of Pirates' Cove taken in 1961. He asked why it has taken so long to <br /> remedy the present situation of the river? <br /> Selectman Dimz�.o, <br /> ■ ' a member of the'Watershed Management Committee <br /> . findings of a$20,000 re ort on the river are being <br /> �nchcated that the p <br /> compiled b Dr. Brian Howes,and will be presented to the public on <br /> p y <br /> Monday, <br /> November 10 1997 at 7:04 p.m. in the Town Hall. He urged <br /> attendance. At this time the scientific nature of the problem will be <br /> d b Dr. Howes who is a Mashpee resident informed Selectman <br /> discussed <br /> Dinizio. <br />
