Board of Selectmen Minutes February S, 1996 APPQUE-MIENTSAND MARMG& Susan Nig kersonr • Ca e CgLPaIhwgys: Susan Nickerson,Executive Director of the Association for the Preservation Of Cape Cod(APCC)and Victoria Lowell,a member of the Barnstable County Commission gave a brief presentation to the Board regarding the Cape Cod Pathways project. It was noted that the M h � as pee Board of Selectmen endorsed the Cape Cod Pathways project in 1994. The first piece of the pathway was dedicated in : Mashpee last April. Ms.Nickerson presented a trail guide brochure of the Mashpee River woodlands to the Board for review. In addition, the Board received a pamphlet relative to the Pathways project. The Cape Cod Pathways network is intended to link existingparcels of open space,by way of a walking path from one end of Cape Cod to the other explained Ms.Nickerson. It is envisioned as both a conservation and economic development project. P Slides were presented to the Board showingthe visual aspects of the • P proposal in an effort to highlight the beautiful attributes of Cape Cod. For rithe project to become a reality,public and municipal support is . P PP critical indicated Ms.Lowell. The Board was requested to endorse an Act to establish the Cape Cod greenways, athwa s and recreational tourism fund. P Y State revenues received from the Barnstable CountyRegistry of Deeds excise tax are proposed to fund this endeavor explained Ms.Lowell. Motion made by Selectman Mills to endorse the Cape Cod Pathways project as outlined. The Executive Secretary is authorized to draft letters of support to appropriate legislative s parties on behalf of the Board of Selectmen. Motion seconded by Selectman Caffyn. VOTF,: Unanimous. 3-0, Selectman Caffyn suggested to distribute the Cape Y Cod Pathways brochures to the Chamber of Commerce. n Yi s'.
