Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February S, 1996 <br /> APPQUE-MIENTSAND MARMG& <br /> Susan Nig <br /> kersonr • Ca e CgLPaIhwgys: <br /> Susan Nickerson,Executive Director of the Association for the Preservation <br /> Of Cape Cod(APCC)and Victoria Lowell,a member of the Barnstable <br /> County Commission gave a brief presentation to the Board regarding the <br /> Cape Cod Pathways project. <br /> It was noted that the M h <br /> � as pee Board of Selectmen endorsed the Cape Cod <br /> Pathways project in 1994. The first piece of the pathway was dedicated in <br /> :< P P Y <br /> Mashpee last April. <br /> Ms.Nickerson presented a trail guide brochure of the Mashpee River <br /> woodlands to the Board for review. In addition, the Board received a <br /> pamphlet relative to the Pathways project. <br /> The Cape Cod Pathways network is intended to link existingparcels of <br /> open space,by way of a walking path from one end of Cape Cod to the <br /> other explained Ms.Nickerson. <br /> It is envisioned as both a conservation and economic <br /> development project. <br /> P <br /> Slides were presented to the Board showingthe visual aspects of the <br /> • P <br /> proposal in an effort to highlight the beautiful attributes of Cape Cod. <br /> For rithe project to become a reality,public and municipal support is <br /> . P PP <br /> critical indicated Ms.Lowell. The Board was requested to endorse an Act <br /> to establish the Cape Cod greenways, athwa s and recreational tourism <br /> fund. <br /> P Y <br /> State revenues received from the Barnstable CountyRegistry of Deeds <br /> excise tax are proposed to fund this endeavor explained Ms.Lowell. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Mills to endorse the Cape Cod <br /> Pathways project as outlined. The Executive Secretary is <br /> authorized to draft letters of support to appropriate legislative <br /> s parties on behalf of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Caffyn. <br /> VOTF,: Unanimous. 3-0, <br /> Selectman Caffyn suggested to distribute the Cape Y Cod Pathways brochures <br /> to the Chamber of Commerce. <br /> n <br /> Yi <br /> s'. <br />
