i <br /> Page 6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 18, 1996 <br /> MINUTES:, <br /> ,Monday, March 4, 1995 Regular and Executive Sessions: <br /> Selectman Caffyn requested to defer the acceptance of the above <br /> minutes until the next scheduled Board Meeting. <br /> Consideration of Budget Article: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Costa to place an additional <br /> $500 in the Board of Selectmen expense account for the <br /> purpose of increasing the Special Events and Planning <br /> Account. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Gaffyn. <br /> YOTE-: Unanimous. S-o. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Notification of Grant Award for the FY 1995 Readv Resource Fund <br /> Economic Develo mens Block Grant Program: <br /> Mr.Whritenour announced that Mashpee has received grant funding <br /> from the FY 1995 Ready Resource Fund/Economic Development of the <br /> Massachusetts Community Development Block Grant Program. <br /> The grant in the amount of$379,530 was awarded jointly with the Towns <br /> of Bourne, Falmouth, Sandwich, Dennis, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury, <br /> West Tisbury and Nantucket will be used to establish a program of micro- <br /> enterprise loans and technical assistance to by carried out by the Cape and <br /> Islands Economic Development. <br /> Grant Status Re ort: <br /> Mr. Whritenour presented a Grant Status Report to the Board for <br /> review. (enclosed) It was noted that approximately$2,000,000 has <br /> been attained to date through grant funding opportunities. <br /> Notification of Grant Award: <br /> Mr.Whritenour indicated that the Town has received grant funding in the <br /> amount of$5,000 this current fiscal year and will receive an additional <br /> $5,000 in FY97 from the Executive Office of Health and Human Services <br /> to aid physically and mentally handicapped citizens through an integrated <br /> leisure and recreation program proposal. <br />
