T0: Board of Selectman
FROM: Jim Vaccaro
SUBJ: FY 97 Budget
In order to mitigate the reliance on non-recurring revenues for recurring expenses, I
suggest the following budget reductions. These suggestions will not effect the services
currently provided by the departments, will have no impact on the operations of
government nor on the services provided to citizens.
Budget Item Current Suggested Revised
Recom- Reduction Budget with
mendation Suggested
Reduction
Selectmen Seminars 4,100 350 3,70
Selectmen In-State Travel 1,000 200 800
Legal/Engineering/Consulting 120,000 15,000 105,000
Finance Committee Expense 1,200 200 1,000
Town Hall Maintenance 150,000 20,000 130,000
Town Museum Repairs 8,900 71000 12900
Cultural Council 250 150 100
Sewer Commission 100 100 0
Unemployment2 ,000 20,000 5,000
 Assistant Building Inspector 301293 14,000 16,293
Article 24* 5,000 5,000 0
Article 23 68,916 81000 60,916
90,000
* This can be fivnded through the Legal/Engineering/Consaclting accocsnt. A portion
can be encumbered in the FY96 appropriation.
The issue of Article 11 (three patrolmen) remains unresolved. Although I am not
suggesting removal, if the BOS removes this article from the Warrant, an added savings
of $26,000 will be realized.
