l
a y
THE ]BROWN COMPANIES, INC.
461 park Avenue South
New York N.Y., 10016
7/1/96
Mr.. Peter Dinizio
Chairman,Board of Select m= 1996
Town of Mashp ee :
681 Falmouth Road -
Mashpce„MA 02649
Dear Sirs:
I am writing*advance of your meeting concerning certain renwks
ascribed to the town planner, Tom Fud.ala.
While Mr. Fudala's quote sounded derogatory I do believe in fact it
was well intentioned, and taken out of context. We have been in the real estate business for forty
years, and until this Southport bid we have never had controversy, ever been accused of any
impropriety, ever had a property foreclosed on, ever lost money for any investor.
What Mr. Fudala meant was that he wanted to sec something happen at Southport
and if we were the people to do it he for one would welcome it regardless of all the name calling.
I.befeve that all this controversy was incited by the defaulted borrowcrs at New Sea
bury and at Southport as a diversion tactic and a desperate attempt to kee their properties-
These
ernes_
p p p P P P
These borrowers helped take down two banks, and had already cost the taxpayers tens of
millions of dollars prier to the time we were invited to bid on the properties. No one has accused
us of costing any loss of money to anyone, nor of any wrong in connection with New Seabury.
We are accused of signing an affidavit in connection with the close of Southport that contained
a False statement(that no one in my office other than the had spoken to Ron Bonnie). we wUl
take the legal consequence of that, but this in no way changes the fact at New Seabury Chris
