Minutes of Meeting of
Ma h pee Design Review Committee
Tuesday, May 16, 2017
Mashpee Town Hall Waquoit Meeting Room
Committee Members Present: Joseph Cummings, and Michael Mendoza.
Absent: Jonathan Furbush.
Michael Mendoza called the meeting to order at 5:43 a.m. and stated that
unfortunately one Committee member is not present so we don't have a quorum.
However, Mike said in fairness to those appearing and as a courtesy to
applicants, they would hear the proposals and at least offer some input but the
applicants would have to re-appear at a future Design Review meeting.
7 Market street
L.L. Bean signage
Sign Design Inc.
Representative —Thomas J aoh i m k
Scott Clement from Sign Design said he is appearing on behalf of L.L. Bean. Mr.
Clement showed the layouts of the proposed signage. He said they are
renovating the Gap Store and proposing removing Gap signage and putting up 4
L,L, Bean illuminated LED signs. They are requesting signage that is consistent
with the customer's branding.
Mike Mendoza advised Mr. Clement that under the Mashpee Town By-Laws
A
nternally illuminated signage is not permifted. Mr. Clement said so externally
illuminated sign would be okay. Mike responded "fires". Mike Mendoza provided
Mr. Clement with a printed copy of the applicable By-Lary.
Mr. Clement said if the customer wants to still go forward with internally
illuminated signage horn could they do it. Mike responded that they would go to
the Zoning Board of Appeals. Mr. Clement said it sounds as though it would not
be worth it. Mike suggested he look at the rest of Mashpee Commons signage
and he will see they are all lit externally.
Mr. Clement asked if the size of the proposed sign letters would be okay. Joseph
Cummings advised they would have 10% to work with.
