Project Address: 135 Main Street(continued)
Miles Peters noted that the auto sign and Shell sign are the same. Gary Bourne
said "yes". He said they are trying to give the public the information so they don't
have to turn to see the pumps for the pricing. Miles commented that the original
looks better aesthetically. Steve Pedro said it looks better because it`s a smaller
sign but the sign is not offensive with pricing added.
Steve Pedro said with replacements all panels will be brand new.
Gary Bourne said maintenance operation hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; and the store
hours are 6 a.m. to around 9 p.m.
Mike Mendoza stated for the record that the site area is zoned residential which
means the sign board area is limited to 6 square feet.
Joe Cummings asked when the original sign was put there. Gary Bourne said
probably about 15 years ago since that's when he purchased the property and at
that time a lot of signs were on the building and many were removed over time.
The Town permitted this sign to remain. Joe Cummings said then Zoning By-
Law Section 174-50B could apply in this situation since it appears the Town
made some type of agreement for just the one sign.
Miles Peters noted that they are replacing with a sign of the same plastic, acrylic
material and he said he feels it would look better if it was a wooden sign. Gary
Bourne said he thinks they did a better job of maintaining the property and that
they try hard to be a good neighbor.
Miles asked if there is a planting bed there. Gary Bourne responded "yes".
CONCLUSION
MOTION: Jonathan Furbursh motioned to accept the Plan as presented for 135
Main Street on Plan dated 8115117; revised 8/18117; and that it be noted for the
record that under Zoning By-Law Section 174-50B this is a pre-existing sign.
Joseph Cummings seconded this motion.
Vote: 4-Yes; 1-Abstain.
Roll Call Vote:
Miles Peters, abstain Jonathan Furbush, yes
Joshua Spencer, yes Joseph Cummings, yes
Michael Mendoza, yes
3
