3 <br /> Finance Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> April 27, 2017 <br /> The comprehensive review considered the pay scale as it relates to the merit step system which is <br /> not entirely consistent with all collective bargaining units. No collective bargaining unit is the <br /> sane in terms of steps. Some units have a step consisting of tiers I through 7. Other units have <br /> a step tier consisting of levels 1 through 10. Individuals with a higher numbered step required a <br /> more signi .cant adjustment in the pay schedule. In the merit step system.,a satisfactory <br /> performance review is a requirement to move on from one step to another. If the performance <br /> review is not conducted,, the 'Individual would receive the benefits of the cola only. <br /> In considering all contracts before the Town for settlement,the collective cost is approximately <br /> $600,000 in fiscal year 2018. Funding for this purpose would derive from free cash. It was <br /> agreed the settlements as proposed 1s a fair and reasonable offer. The Board of Selectmen at <br /> them last meeting voted to support the contracts as presented with the exception of the police <br /> Sergeants, Unit B and the Firefighters Unit anticipated to be finalized by the Board at their May <br /> 15 2017 meeting prior to the Annual Town Meeting.
