13
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
March 27, 2017
NEW BUSINESS
Execution of the Mgy 2017 Annual and Special Town Meeting Warrants:
It was noted the Board of Selectmen at their meeting of Wednesday,March 22,2017 took action in an
effort to finalize the May 1, 2017 Annual & Special Town Meeting warrants. The warrant before the
Board of Selectmen is reflective of the Board of Selectmen decisions. The Finance Committee is
expected to conduct a final review of the warrant at their meeting of March 28, 2017.
Motion made by Selectman Cotton to approve and execute the Annual and Special Town Meeting
Warrants of Monday,May 1,2017 as presented.
Motion seconded by Selectman Sherman.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
Roll Call Vote:
Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Selectman O'Hara,yes
Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman Sherman,yes Opposed,none
Preliminary discussion of rooftop solar addition:
With respect to the imminent Quashnet School building project, the Board of Selectmen considered
options separate from the project that could potentially offset the financial plan for the school project.
Selectman Cotton was noted to have met with representatives from Associated Energy Developers to
review the potential for a solar array to be constructed on the Quashnet School roof after the completion
of the planned project. Initial projections warrant further review and consideration of the proposal
which would gain revenue for the Town and offset electrical costs associated to the Quashnet School.
This project would be contingent upon voter approval at the May 2017 Town Meeting to move forward
with the Quashnet School window, door and soffit replacement project, in addition to the receipt of
reimbursable funding from MSBA.
Rodney C. Collins, Town Manager was directed to further consider this option and work in conjunction
with the Director of Public Works and the School Department to review possible scenario's and tax
credits associated to the project proposal. It was agreed that further analysis would be conducted by the
energy firm.
