Torn of Mashpee <br /> $ <br /> Shellfish Commission 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Mashpee, MA 02649 <br /> All LEC6 <br /> MINUTES of MEETING 2-1-1 <br /> Attendance: meter Thomas, Brian Everett, Stephen Marques, Richard York and = <br /> William Holmes (bar phone) - <br /> Public: Richard Cook and Sam Houghton (Mashpee Enterprise) <br /> Convene Meeti r : 7100 PM <br /> PublicComment: None <br /> Approval : 11-15-16 Postponed. <br /> Shellfish Constable's Report: Thomas smith was issued a Notice of Violation of <br /> Town By--Laws on January 20, 2017 for violation of the Mashpee Shellfish <br /> Regulations Article III Section 0: transplanting shellfish seed (oysters) without a <br /> permit from the Director of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries <br /> (DMF). He also violated Mashpee Shellfish Regulations Article III Section 1 1, <br /> and Mass. MGL chapter 130 Section : Possession of shellfish seed (oysters) <br /> without a permit from the DMF Director. The violations were for oysters <br /> harvested from Mashpee Neck. Landing that were found at Mr. Smith's dock in <br /> Great River at 229 Monomoscoy Road. Mr. Smith also had oyster seed in an <br /> OysterGro aquaculture system at his dock without a Shellfish Aquaculture <br /> License from the Town or a permit from DMF to possess shellfish seed. He <br /> stated that the seed carne from the ARC hatchery in Dennis. ARC had no record <br /> of a sale to Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith was aware of the regulations because was <br /> given copies of the Mashpee Shellfish Regulations and Shellfish Aquaculture = <br /> Regulations earlier when he inquired about applying for a Shellfish Aquaculture <br /> License. Mr. Smith paid the fine for the violations. <br /> After discussion, Stephen Marques made a motion to recommend to the <br /> Board of electmen revocation of Mr. Smith's Shellfish Permit for one year. <br /> } Brian Everett seconded the motion. VOTE: unanimous in favor. <br /> Old Business: <br /> Shellfish Aquaculture License Applications --- Great River; Michael <br /> Ronhock will use cylindrical floats that rotate so birds cannot land on them. No <br /> application from Thomas Smith. <br /> Comprehensive Watershed Nitrogen Management Flan (CWNMP) — <br /> Irnplementation/Shellfish Propagation — DNR is ordering at least 2,000 bags of <br /> remote set oyster seed, and 10 million quahog seed (R-1.5 mm) from the ARC <br /> hatchery this year. The Mashpee Warnpanoag Tribe is ordering another 2,000 <br /> bags of oyster seed from ARC for the oyster bed restoration project in Shoestring <br /> Bay with funds awarded to thea for ars EFTA Health Communities grant. <br /> Great River Ramp Reconstruction — No report- <br />
