Page 5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 25, 1996 <br /> LD BUSINESS-, <br /> Ah <br /> ULMotion for Additional Service&z.BSC <br /> Qroup; <br /> Communication was received from the BSC Group dated August 5, <br /> 996 requesting authorization to perform additional services under <br /> t <br /> the present agreement with the Town dated March 18, 1996. <br /> Additional services in the amount of$3,500 will continue the maintenance <br /> dredging and permitting process for Wv' uoit and Po nesset <br /> � PPo Bays <br /> indicated Mr.Whritenour who recommended the Board support the <br /> transfer from the'waterways Improvement Account. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to authorize the request <br /> for additional services; BSC Group in the amount of $3,500. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Dinizio. <br /> YQT_E: unanimous. 5-0. <br /> In addition,communication was received from Jim Hanks, Chairman of <br /> the Waterways Commission dated August 6, 1996 recommending the <br /> Board issue a bequest for Proposal (RFP)for engineeringservices to <br /> acquire permits necessary to dredge the Mashpee River. <br /> *Agenda item; Wednesday,August 28, 1996-Annual Town Meeting s <br /> Warrant review-Draft#3. <br /> EULIC COM MMT; <br /> .. <br /> Edward Barer indicated that he is disappointed in the Board's action <br /> to reorganize the make-up of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> In other matters,Mr. Baker recommended the Board move forward <br /> with the Town Meeting article proposed to dredge the Mashpee River. <br /> He suggested the Board include as an explanation of the article: The <br /> Mashpee River is a health hazard for swimming,is known to contain F <br /> a high level of fecal coliform bacteria,and at present,has navigational <br /> problems for boaters. <br /> Mr. Balser indicated that the Mashpee River is in need of the most dredging. <br /> He urged the Board to modify the article as proposed to be specific for <br /> the Mashpee River to support engineering studies, and acquiring dredging <br /> permits. <br /> Paul Lumsden also emphasized the clean-up for the Mashpee River. <br /> Juan Bacigalupi thanked Selectman Dinizio for his service to the Town as <br /> Chairman of the Board of Selectmen. <br />
