{ - 1 <br /> Page 6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes-Emergency Meeting <br /> September 11, 1996 <br /> Meeting re-convened: 7:42 p.m. <br /> Mashpee Middle School Cafetorium <br /> HM-H-SEHOOL PAN Y• <br /> Paul GliIIin,Chairman of the High School Building Committee ave <br /> an update to the g g <br /> pda e public with regards to the occupancy of the new <br /> Mash Hi p Y <br /> pee High School, <br /> On this date,the mmes architect, S Maini ' <br /> y and McKee has signed-off, <br /> and the A, B,and E sections of the building are read for <br /> indicated Mr.Griffin Y occupancy p <br /> We have asked the Board of Selectmen and School Committee to consider <br /> s der <br /> opening the school deemed safe and ready for occupancy b all <br /> p Y Y <br /> regulatory officials informed Mr. Griffin. <br /> It was noted the playing fields and grounds in phase one of substantial <br /> completion are not deemed acceptable and will not be completed this season. <br /> The rear sections of the building,referred to as C and D are anticipated <br /> g c paced <br /> to be completed in approximately two to four weeps. These areas will <br /> encompass the cafeteria,gymnasium, auditorium and locker facilities. <br /> There is sufficient furniture,computers and educational facilities f <br /> p es or the <br /> students as determined by the School Department informed Mr. Griffin <br /> who stated that the exact date of occupancy is unknown at this time. <br /> Dr.DeMoura, Superintendent of Schools indicated that he would like to <br /> take occupancy no later than Monday,September 23, 1996. <br /> High School Principal,John Williams added that construction worker <br /> will not be visible to the students during normal school hours. Snow <br /> fencing will block all construction areas located behind the gym and <br /> auditorium. <br /> Board of Health member,Bob Cram and Board of Health Agent, <br /> Elias McQuaid commented on the partial occupancy of the high school <br /> facility. Mr. McQuaid presented a memo to the Board dated September 11, <br /> 1996 in preparation for the emergency meeting. (enclosed) <br /> As noted,Mr. Mc Qu aid received verbal approval from the Department of <br /> Environmental Protection(DEP)to allow the wastewater treatment plant <br /> to go back on line. Bottled water and coolers will be provided to the <br /> students and faculty until flushing resumes and samples indicate acceptable <br /> levels of copper and lead. <br />
