Page 9 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> November 4, 1996 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Hearing-Package Store Sunday Openings- <br /> Selectman Costa opened the Public Hearing to determine whether or <br /> not the Town would allow Sunday openings for all package stores for <br /> calendar year 1996; permanently for the life of the license,or not all. <br /> Mr.Whritenour read aloud the Public Hearing notice as published <br /> Mrs.Mason submitted communication to the Board from the Alcoholic <br /> Beverages Control Commission (ABCC)dated October 8, 1996 relative <br /> to Holidays and Sunday Package Store Openings for the Remainder of <br /> 1996. <br /> As noted,the local Licensing Authority may approve a permit of fixed <br /> duration,or as a term of the alcoholic beverage license at their discretion. ,! <br /> Mrs. Mason indicated that Sunday openings for the holiday season �! <br /> was approved last year by the Board of Selectmen without incident. <br /> Selectman Costa opened the Hearing to obtain comment. <br /> Bryan Anderson,owner of Andy's Market requested the Board approve <br /> the Sunday Package Store openings for the "life of the license." <br /> Mr. Anderson indicated that many other towns participate in the Sunday ;! <br /> openings. <br /> Dena Rymsha,Liberty Liquors agreed, and stated that she had great <br /> public response last year. Many patrons were able to address holiday <br /> shopping needs on the Sunday openings. <br /> Mrs.Mason indicated that the Sunday openings would take effect the <br /> Sunday before Thanksgiving, and allow the package stores to be open <br /> every Sunday thereafter until New Years Day. <br /> Being no further comment, Selectman Costa requested a vote from the <br /> q� <br /> Board to close the Public Hearing. i <br /> Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Frye. <br /> TE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> I <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to allow the Sunday <br /> openings for all package stores for calendar year 1996 only. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Dinizio. <br /> TE: 4-1. Motion carries. <br /> Selectman Frye in opposition. <br />
