Page 7 <br /> { <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> October 21, 1996 <br /> PUBLIC CQMA4ENT: <br /> With regards to the Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates appointment, <br /> Juan Bacigalupi indicated that Mashpee will have two write-in candidates <br /> seeking election. Martine Meliering and Glenn Leudtke are running <br /> write-in campaigns informed Mr. Bacigalupi who urged the Selectmen's <br /> support for regional government. <br /> In other business, Mr. Bacigalupi addressed the Sampson's Mill Road <br /> contamination issue, and requested the Board review the public health <br /> studies, and exhort pressure to the Augat facility and Department of <br /> Environmental Protection on behalf of the homeowners of this area. <br /> Mr.Bacigalupi related concerns relative to the MMR clean--up process, <br /> and the potential elimination of community input. Problems exist with <br /> the monitoring plan, and SD-5 pump and treat system. <br /> Selectman Caffyn added that there is not adequate public meeting notice, <br /> and it appears the public is getting less input into the process. On behalf <br /> of the Board,Selectman Caffyn will draft a memo to the Base with <br /> regards to this concern. Mr. Bacigalupi will address his concerns in writing <br /> to the Board of Selectmen for additional consideration. <br /> On a positive note, Selectman Caffyn indicated that Foothill Engineering <br /> V <br /> s working on behalf of the four Cape towns in response to restoration <br /> and clean-up activities. <br /> School Committee members, Steve Paxton and Kathy Lynch indicated <br /> that they are generally pleased with the opening of the new Mashpee <br /> High School,but are concerned with the delay in the completion of the <br /> second phase of the project. <br /> It was noted that the students do not have a cafeteria, gymnasium or <br /> auditorium at this time. The exterior playing fields have not been <br /> addressed by the contractor to date. <br /> Selectman Costa indicated that the Board of Selectmen will address <br /> this matter of concern on behalf of the Town. <br />
