The second area of concern raised by several c❑mmentors was the poten
-
ti al nutrient loading to the adjacent surface water bodies - Trout Pond and
the Mashpee River. The Division shares this concern and has taken the
following position. The final Environmental Impact Report approved by the
Secretary of Environmental Affairs and supplemental data submitted by
todberg, Zoina Associ ares as part of the Fields Point Corporation 's
Ground--Water Discharge Permit Application detailed the hydrogeol ogy of the
affected area and projected hydrologic and water quality impacts at various
discharge rates . A careful review of these data by the Division indicated
that at the proposed daily flow of 39,000 gallons per day (gpd) the
impacts to the surface water bodies would be minimal . However, it is also
the opinion of the Division that higher flows (i , e. greated than 39,000
gpd) may indeed create hydrau l.i c changes with respect to the local ground--
water flow regime, particularly in combina t*on wi th other proposed
discharge in the area, and increase the nutrient loading to the surface
water bodies .
Neither of these issues was addressed in the f final EIR to the
Division ' s satisfaction. To ensure that these important issues are ade-
quately addressed, the Division has included` the foil❑wing previsions in
the Ground-'nater Discharge p er i .
a. pec tion I.A. - Ef+l cent imz is
Flow, cu.
