12 AV Board of Selectmen Q Minutes February 11, 2019 APPOINTMENTS &HEARINGS Discussion and Approval of Letter of Support for the Town's Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness MVP) Designation: Town Planner Evan Lehrer presented a draft letter of support for the Town of Mashpee's application to participate in the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Grant Program. As a coastal community, Mashpee is eligible to received funding to protect its assets. The MVP designation will allow Mashpee to participate in the Community Resilience Building Workshop to identify the Town's goals and priorities to address climate change vulnerability. The grant application is required to be submitted by the end of February. New state funding opportunities are available to pursue action grants to assist with the impacts of climate change. Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to approve the letter to support the Town of Mashpec's application for participation in the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Grant program. Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton. VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. Services of Ca ep Cod: Selectmen members are invited to assist with the Elder Services Meals on Wheels campaign by delivering prepared meals to the elderly on a scheduled date. The deadline to sign- up for the volunteer day is March 20, 2019, OLD BUSINESS Discussion and Approval of Beach Sticker Fees(Continued from January 28, 2019) At their last meeting, the Board of Selectmen deferred the recommendation of the Recreation Director to increase the cost of the beach stickers to review the overall costs of this service. Mary K. Bradbury, Recreation Director was in attendance to further update the Board on beach operation costs. With an increase in the resident sticker from $30 to $35, and an increase in the weekly non-resident sticker fee from$50 to $55, beach operations will remain in deficit. Expenses of the program include beach staff wages, maintenance and equipment, the cost of stickers, South Cape Beach nourishment, certification training,uniforms, trash bags and vehicle fuel. All monies received from the sale of beach stickers goes into the general fund. DPW labor, trash removal and the rental of portable toilets are funded DPW line items. The operating expense compilation is reflective of the actual costs which includes $60,579 in beach nourishment.
