Article 2 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and transfer from the Community Preservation Fund, <br /> in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 4413, §5, $5,300 for the purpose of funding <br /> the restoration of Town Archives holdings for display in the soon to be renovated facility, <br /> including any necessary costs and expenses related thereto, as recommended by the Community <br /> Preservation Committee, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Community Preservation Committee <br /> Explanation: This article seeks $5,300 in funding from the Community Preservation Fund 10% <br /> Historic Reserve Account to assist the Mashpee Historical Commission to restore Historic Town <br /> Maps and Documents and to allow for the purchase of Digitizing Equipment and a computer for <br /> the Mashpee Archives. A large (5'x6') 1858 Henry F. Walling map of the Counties of <br /> Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket, and an 1840 Phelps and Ensign Travel Map of the United <br /> States period consistent require archival framing for protection and display. Included in the <br /> restoration project are diplomas from the Mashpee Grammar School in 1932, the Falmouth <br /> Junior High School in 1933 and an early panoramic hand-colored photograph of Mashpee- <br /> Wakeby Pond. CPA funding will also allow for the purchase of a computer and document <br /> scanner to digitalize unique Town documents to improve access to Town history, cultures, and <br /> family genealogy. <br /> The Community Preservation Committee voted unanimously 7-0 in support of this article. <br /> The Board of Selectmen recommends approval by a vote of 5-0. <br /> The Finance Committee recommends approval by a vote of 6-0. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Carol Sherman. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to appropriate and transfer from the Community Preservation <br /> Fund Historical Purpose Reserve, in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 4413, <br /> Section 5, $5,300 for the purpose of funding the restoration of Town Archives holdings for <br /> display in the soon to be renovated facility, including any necessary costs and expenses related <br /> thereto, as recommended by the Community Preservation Committee. <br /> Motion passes unanimously at 7:13 PM. <br /> Article 3 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and transfer, pursuant to the provisions of M.G.L., <br /> Chapter 4413, §6, to reserve from the FY2013 estimated Community Preservation revenues, the <br /> following amounts; <br /> $133,920 10% for Historic purposes <br /> $133,920 10% for Affordable Housing purposes <br /> $133,920 10% for Open Space purposes <br /> $937,437 to the FY2013 Community Preservation Fund <br /> 2 <br />
