as recommended by the Community Preservation Committee, or take any other actions relating <br /> thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Community Preservation Committee <br /> Explanation: Funding for this article would derive from the Budgeted Reserve of the <br /> Community Preservation Committee to assist in the re-creation of a 2-acre playing field that will <br /> serve as a focal for summer day camp activities hosted by the Mashpee Recreation Department, <br /> and provide recreational open space for Mashpee residents and visitors to the parcel. The project <br /> also includes funding to improve access, establish a secondary parking area for 20 cars and <br /> create a low impact"car-top" canoe & kayak launch area, no trailers, non-motorized boats only <br /> to access Pickerel Cove. The total cost of the project is $63,925. Grant funding if attained from <br /> the Massachusetts Office of Fishing and Boating Access (MFBA) will assist in the costs <br /> associated to the canoe/kayak launch area and offset Community Preservation Funding. <br /> *The Community Preservation Committee voted 7-0 in support of the Pickerel Cove Recreation <br /> Area project to derive from the Community Preservation Budgeted Reserve. <br /> The Board of Selectmen recommends approval by a vote of 5-0. <br /> The Finance Committee recommends approval by a vote of 4-1. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Wayne Taylor. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to appropriate and transfer $55,465 from the Community <br /> Preservation Fund Budgeted for Appropriation Reserve, in accordance with the provisions of <br /> M.G.L. Chapter 44B, §5, for the purposes of funding improvements for recreational usage and <br /> accessibility to the Pickerel Cove Recreation Area formerly known as Camp Vinhaven, including <br /> necessary costs and expenses related thereto, as recommended by the Community Preservation <br /> Committee. <br /> Motion is defeated 52-yes 90-no at 7:27 PM. <br /> Article 5 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and transfer from the Community Preservation Fund, <br /> in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 44B, §5, $200,000 for the purposes of <br /> funding the preservation and restoration of the Mashpee Archives, including necessary costs and <br /> expenses related thereto, as recommended by the Community Preservation Committee, or take <br /> any other actions relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Community Preservation Committee <br /> Explanation: This article seeks funding from the Community Preservation 10% Budgeted <br /> Historic Reserve Account to assist in the preservation and restoration of the Mashpee Archives, a <br /> Town building displaying and storing documents, records,photographs, maps and other artifacts <br /> collected from the Town's history.
