The Board of Selectmen takes no position by a vote of 5-0. <br /> The Finance Committee does not recommend article. <br /> Motion made to dispense with reading of article. <br /> Motion made by George Schmidt. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to approve Article 24 as printed in the warrant with the <br /> exception of the phrase "or take any other action relating thereto". <br /> Motion defeated 55 yes to 64 no at 9:27 PM. <br /> Article 25 <br /> To see if the town will vote to amend Article 2.1 — Annual Town Meeting and Election of the <br /> Town's By-Laws as follows: <br /> Paragraph F of Article 2.1 —Annual Town Meeting and Election By-law would be replaced in its <br /> entirety by the following language: <br /> "Effective January 1, 2012, the regular annual Town election of Town officers will be held <br /> on the first Saturday in May immediately following the May Annual Town Meeting, except <br /> when that Saturday immediately precedes Mother's Day, and then the election will be held <br /> on the following Saturday at such place as determined by the Selectmen." <br /> This will replace the existing language in Paragraph F of Article 2.1, "The annual Town election <br /> of Town officers will be held the first Saturday in May immediately following the May Annual <br /> Town Meeting, at such place as determined by the Selectmen." <br /> Submitted by Petition <br /> Explanation: This article would move the annual Town general election which is held on the <br /> first Saturday in May following the Town's Annual Meeting (which typically places the general <br /> election on Mother's Day weekend) to the next Saturday, if Mother's Day is immediately <br /> following that date. The historical turnout for the May Town election has been very low <br /> compared to the number of people voting in the November State and Presidential elections. <br /> The Board of Selectmen takes no position by a vote of 5-0. <br /> The Finance Committee recommends approval by a vote of 7-0. <br /> Motion made by Don Meyers. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to approve Article 25 as printed in the warrant with the <br /> exception of the phrase "or take any other action relating thereto". <br /> Motion passes unanimously at 9:30 PM. <br /> 31 <br />
