K. C. Coombs <br /> School Council Meeting <br /> Marcie 16, 2005 <br /> f.The meeting was called to order at : PM in the conference room at the K. C. Coombs School. <br /> E. In attendance were Mrs.Doyle, Mrs. LeFavor,Mrs.Burlein-Pit ,Mrs.Leans-Rice, and Mrs.Ion key. <br /> III. The minutes from the February 16, 2005 Council meeting were reviewed.The following discussions occurred <br /> amongst the Council members: <br /> Mrs. LeFav r asked if the music room is used during indoor recess. The students axe provided to use the <br /> rowing machines in the music room <br /> B Mrs. LeF vor asked if students are still asked to be silent at the end of the lunch periods.Mrs. Doyle <br /> indicated that the students are asked to be silent so that they can bear/listen to hunch dismissal directions. <br /> MTS.Rornkey made a motion to accept the txxinutes.Mrs. L Favor seconded the motion.The minutes were <br /> unanimously approved. <br /> IV. Open Forum:No one was present for the open forum. <br /> V.New Business: The Council began the review ofthe K. C. Coombs p rent tudent Handbook. <br /> Vf. Old Business: <br /> A. Mrs.Doyle reported that she has met with the superintendent regarding next year's building plan for the K. <br /> C. Coombs School.Iterns discussed at this meeting included the possibility of moving the third grade over <br /> to the K.C. Coombs School. Mgrs.Doyle indicated that this idea was also introduced and suggested in the <br /> school district's PIM.The idea was postponed secondary to the upcoming changes in administration.and to <br /> the physical moving complications that would be caused by the closing and pavlrlg of the K. C. Coombs <br /> school parking lot this sun n r. <br /> B. The School Committee Finance Meeting will be held tonight.The Conamittoe will be voting on the three <br /> percent increase to the school budget as proposed by the Town Manager. The School Committee expects <br /> that the Town will give an additional$300,000.00 to the budget over the three percent. <br /> C. The English-Language Arts revision was supposed to be on the warrant for the May Town Meeting. Th <br /> School ` mlTu'ttee is not sure if the article will be placed on the warrant. <br /> D. It is anti cipat d that cuts to the school budget may result i the loss of 7.8 elementary teachers. This will be <br /> 7 teachers and.8 of a specialist. Grade 3 and Grade 5 ma r have up to 2 6 students per classrooms. There <br /> may be 20-22 students per classroom at the K. C.Coombs School. <br /> E. During the -0 school year, it is anticipated that grade three students will be taping the Math and <br /> Reading MCAS. <br /> F. The K. C. Coombs School building will be closed during the sun-Uner, due to the paving of the parking lot. <br /> IX.A miction to adjourn was made by Mrs. Lewis-Rice.
