KCC School Council <br /> 18-05 <br /> Me <br /> - <br /> Me ting minutes <br /> The meeting was called to order at 3-30 p.m. in the ICC Conference Room. Present <br /> were,: Shawn Hendricks, Louise Doyle, Colleen LaCroix, Jennifer L Favor and Carrie <br /> urlein-lit . <br /> II No one was present for Open FOYLIrn. <br /> motion to approve the March minutes was moved and seconded. The March minutes <br /> approved. They Fere unanimously approved <br /> IV Budget Update. <br /> 1.The ELA Revision has been approved. This will be paid on a Mo-year <br /> installment plan. For the Scott Foresman reading series; we will be a pilot <br /> school in FY 7. This will provide us with additional components for <br /> intervention purposes, a computer program, etc. <br /> 2-Teehnolog ' is a growing need in our s rstern, particular)y our school at KC C. <br /> . Recommendation that Reading to the earphones continue to be used in K-2. <br /> 4.Reader's Theatre will continue to be a strategy for building reading fluency, <br /> oral reading, reading connections., voice, etc. Students receive scripts on <br /> Monday, practice all week at borne} ` <br /> and perform the play on Friday. <br /> .leading block will continue, 9 o minutes next year <br /> 6.Assessment is a key component to the reacting program using Running <br /> Records., DRA's,DEBELS, etc.. <br /> .A request was made for a 7th K teacher for 06 gear. There are 138 children for <br /> next year, which puts 23 in each classroom if only 6 classrooms remain. <br /> Xindergarten grant is due the week of 5-23-05. The Legislator is attempting t <br /> accept or decline the 91•ants at an earlier day other than August. If the grant <br /> cones tlu-ough the budget will be level--funded. <br /> The Scbool Improvement Plan is being written at this time. The Language Arts/Reading <br /> goal was discussed particularly in terms on anon-going reading assessment, adoption of a <br /> new text for % continued professional development, and improving student <br /> performance. <br /> I The lack f substitute coverage when the school nurse is out is of concern. The substitute <br /> pay for nurses is inadequate. The KCC School Council requests adequate payment for <br /> professional nurse substitute. A proposal is tieing writing by a nurse substitute to present <br /> to the KCCPTlncipal. <br /> V11 The meeting adjourned at : cpm.
