Mashpee waterways Commission <br /> Minutes of the August 9,2011 Meeting <br /> tin <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chairman Ken Bates at 9:08AM in Revised Meeting <br /> Room#3, Mashpee Town Hall. <br /> Present were; Ken Bates, Paul Zammito, Perm Ellis, Steve Pinard <br /> Absent: Al Wie el, Tim Leedham, Bill Taylor <br /> Also: Rick York- Shellfish Constable, Stephen Mone- Mashpee Harbormaster, Andrew <br /> McManus-Ma hpee Conservation Commission gent Herring Warden, Michael <br /> Richardson-1lashpee Board of Selectman <br /> A notion to approve the July 12., 2011 fleeting minutes was made by Steve Pinard, <br /> seconded by igen Bates, and unanimously approved . <br /> Correspondence <br /> Iden Bates circulated a letter from the BSC Group to the Save the Bay organization, <br /> which reported on the conclusions of the quarterly Piping Plover inspection on the <br /> Popponesset Beach as required under the dredge permit for the 1916 Channel Dredge x <br /> recently completed. <br /> Hearings: <br /> Andrew McManus, Mashpee ConservationAgent/Herring Warden addressed the <br /> Commission to explain proposed changes to existing and suggested new regulations for <br /> the use and maintenance of the waters and beach area of Moody Pond.1. Beach Parking <br /> restrictions, and a prohibition of gas powered watercraft on the fond were the main items <br /> discussed, The Commission unanimously approved sending a confirmation of their <br /> support in favor of these proposals to the M shpee BOS.. <br /> Committee Reports: <br /> 'Harbormaster Report: Stephen Mone reported on a rescue that tools place in Waquoit <br /> Bay last week by Rescue personnel, A person stricken on the beach was taken to the <br /> hospital and is recovering. Stephen noted a Meavy boating traffic on both Popp onesset <br /> and Waquoit Bays. <br /> 1lshpee-Waehy: leo report <br /> Water Quality Test Program: Steve Pinard reported on another successful test day during <br /> the previous week on all Bays. Steve commended Al Wickel and John West, Bay <br /> Managers and all volunteer personnel for their hard work and support for the Program. <br />
