t <br /> Sewer Commission Advisory Committee: Ken reported that Al Wickel will sit in <br /> on future Citizen Sewer Advisory Committee Meetings as a replacement for Mr. <br /> Lumsden. <br /> County Maintenance Dredge Status for Popponesset Bay-, <br /> Jinx Hants and Ken Bates updated the group on the status of the dredging of the outer <br /> entrance to Popponesset Bay. The Dredge is not yet on site. The original schedule date <br /> was November 20th...The County Dredge vas delayed in Falmouth and ted to do a <br /> `small"project in Barnstable Harbor for fear of getting iced in. The Town sent written <br /> requests for a Permit extension to the State for a delayed date of February I (note that the <br /> new dredging cutoff date is January 15 1h). Since the Commission was advised by the <br /> County Dredge it would not be able to start until the 2 —26th due to additional weather <br /> problems it was decided to request an additional extension to a completion date o <br /> February 15. The Town has requested that new date. <br /> Public Access; Al wiclel reported that there is an increase in numbers of hunting <br /> boats in the late waterway areas. Many folks from around the State are enjoying hunting <br /> in the Mashpee areas. <br /> New Business <br /> Town Report Draft; Commission Members reviewed the draft Town Report that <br /> will be sent to the Board of Selectmen reflecting the waterway Commission projects and <br /> efforts for the past year. A motion to approve the draft was made by Steve Pinard, <br /> seconded by Bill Taylor and unanimously approved. <br /> Goals and objectives: The Commission members also reviewed the Draft of the <br /> updates 2009 Goals and.objectives of the Commission. More information was decidelto <br /> e added to the draft including expanding upon the waquoit Bay area to include Little <br /> River, Great river, and the ponds, as well as adding goals and objectives for the town' <br /> mooring program, Aquaculture Farms, Fresh water areas, as well as habitat fish and sport <br /> fishing, river and stream cleaning restoration, seeking assistance of organizations such as <br /> Trout Unlimited for guidance and grants. <br /> Town Budget Needs: A report was given to the Commission by Police Chief <br /> Rodney Collins. Chief Collins detailed the budget pressures that are facing all Town <br /> Departments. The Board of Selectmen and Fincom have been looking at all Department <br /> Budgets to determine if opportunities exist for cost cutting and revenue enhancement. <br /> One area,receiving focus has been moorings fees for annual mooring space permits in <br /> Mashpee waters. It has been some time since the last increase in mooring fees. Costs of <br /> the Harbormaster and Shellfish offices have increased significantly, particularly for fuel. <br /> Chief Collins detailed fee increase options being considered by the Selectmen, and the <br /> rationale of each. The waterways Commission has been asked to review the fee structure <br /> and to recommend same to the Selectmen in preparation of this year's Budget Review <br /> and the upcoming Town Meeting. Both perm Ellis, Harbormaster and Rick Yorl , <br /> Shellfish Constable were present during the discussions and Perm Alis provided support <br /> i <br />
