lash pee waterways Commission April 14,2009 <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chairman Ken Bates at 9:07 Alli in Meeting Room#3,Mashpee Town <br /> Hall. <br /> Present: Ren Bates,,Perry Ellis, Gerry Daly,Tire Leedhm,Al wicket, Steve Pinard,Bill Taylor <br /> Others in attendance: Rick York,and resident Bill McKay <br /> Motion to approve the March 14,2009 Meeting minutes,as amended,made by Steve Pinard, seconded by <br /> Bili Taylor and was unanimously approved. <br /> COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Harbormaster: Perry Ellis reported that all were gearing up for the coming season. Channel <br /> markers were partially installed and the work should be completed by the end of the week. The <br /> Poponessett boat has been repaired and all that is needed is lettering applied before it is returned to the <br /> Harbormaster. Mooring Bill payments are being received. Staffing has been significantly reduced due t <br /> budget cuts for-his office. <br /> Shellfish Report: Rick York reported that the lower Mashpee River and Shoestring Bay down to <br /> Punkhorn Point were closed to shellflshing on April 1 as usual by the State Division of Marine Fisheries <br /> (DMF)because of the history of contamination by bacteria. The area is scheduled to reopen earlier this <br /> year(Nov 1)if DMF water tests are clean. Investigative testing by the Shellfish Constable in theP ast <br /> showed stormwater runoff and wildlife to be the main sources of fecal coliform bacteria contamination. <br /> Copies ofthe Shellfish Regulations and Shellfishing Maps were distributed to the ommission r . <br /> Fresh water: Al wickel reported that a lot of fishing has been taking place on wakeby Pond, <br /> particularly during late afternoon and sunset. The water is high and the Herring are running. The First Bass <br /> Tournament dates have been established. <br /> P pponessett Bay: Tiny Lee ham reported that thea was not much debris noticed from <br /> the winter <br /> season. The delta has migrated towards the Northeast,with the encroachment about the same as last year. <br /> aquoit Bay: Perm Ellis reported that there are few boats noticed,water is pretty quiet with some <br /> clocks in place. <br /> State Dredge Date Meetings: Iden Bates reported that the Committee is exchanging positions with <br /> the Massachusetts Fisheries representatives.No follow-up meeting is scheduled. <br /> Sewer Commission Advisory Committee: Al Wickel reported on discussions that included the <br /> Cape Cod Nater Protection Collaborative major report released last month about the connections between <br /> sewers and planning,development, and"smart growth". Also reported was that FIN COM voted <br /> unanimously in support for the Town Meeting Article 11 to renew the Sewer Commision Facilities Plan <br /> Account(non-SRF supplement Town Meeting appropriation)at their April 7 meeting. Next meetingis <br /> Tuesday the 1"of April. <br /> lMashpee waleby Lake Management: No additional news <br /> Barnstable County Dredge: Gerry Daly reported that there was no update since the last meeting <br />
