Mashpee waterways Commission August 11„2009 <br /> Meeting Minute <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chairman Ken Bates at 932 AM in Meeting Room#3, Mashpee Town <br /> Hall. <br /> Present: Ken Bates,Tire Leedham,Steve Pinard,Bill Taylor <br /> Not in Attendance: Perry Ellis,Al wickel <br /> Others in Attendance: Hike Richardson,Liaison to Board ofSelectmen <br /> Motion to approve the June 9,2009 fleeting minutes,as amended, was made by Steve Pinard seconded b <br /> Bill Taylor,and was unanimously approved. <br /> In the absence of Al wickel, Steve Pinard'will fill in and record the meeting minutes. <br /> Chairman Iden Bates reviewed draft letters from the waterways Commission to Gerry Daly <br /> (acknowledgment and thank you for service),Board of Selectmen(seeking infornn tion on Town <br /> Landings),and to the Board of Selectmen(confirmation of new Officers,and requesting assistance for <br /> filling a Commission vacancy) <br /> Ken Bates confirmed his sending a copy of the waterway Commission request for an Article regarding <br /> funds for Maintenance Dredging,to be placed on the Town warrant for the upcoming October Town <br /> Meeting to each Commission member. <br /> Committee Reports: <br /> Harbormaster Report: No report <br /> Shellfish Constable Report: No report <br /> Fresh water/ cash ee-wakeby Lake ManagementCommittee: Bill Taylor reported that there <br /> were no new items to report on. <br /> Poppones ett Bay: Tim L edh m reported that boating traffic was heavy during this period. in <br /> addition,there has been a marked increase in Jet Ski usage in the Bay. Some operators appear to not have <br /> knowledge of Navigation and Operatingrules and regulations particularly with regard to speed and <br /> navigation in marked channels. It was noted that some Jet Ski operators were operating dangerously in the <br /> proximity of kayak and water tubing users. An issue of safety concerns was expressed by other <br /> Commission members. <br /> Waquoit Bay: Iden Bates reported that similar issues were being experienced on waquoit Bay, <br /> noted by Harbormaster VHF radio conversations <br /> Sewer Commission Advisory Committee-No report <br /> Barnstable County Coastal Resource Committee: Unassigned responsibility,no report. <br /> Iden Bates reported that the Barnstable County Dredge Team will be conducting surveys of the <br /> 1916 Channel and Mashpee Diver Entrance to determine ML W levels. Falmouth is still working on their <br /> Permit to dredge areas of Waquolt Bay and for dredge disposal of sediments. <br />
