c� <br /> Mashpee Waterways Commission <br /> Meeting Minutes for October 14,Zoo <br /> Meeting called to order by Chairman Ken Bates at 9:05 Alii, at Mashpee Town Hall <br /> meeting room#3 <br /> Members present: Chairman Ken Bates, Bill Taylor, Tim Leedham, Steve Pinard <br /> Members Absent: Gerry Daly, Perry Ellis <br /> Also in attendance: Jim Danks, consultant, Rich York, Shellfish Constable <br /> Motion: Steve Pinard, seconded by Bill Taylor to approve the minutes of the September <br /> , 2008 meeting as corrected. Unanimously approved <br /> Old Business <br /> l.. Aquaculture <br /> Iden Bates submitted a copy of the letter from the Commission to the <br /> Conservation Commission and Board of Selectmen regarding the Kuusela pursuit of a <br /> new grant. There has been no correspondence on this subject since the August meeting <br /> regarding this. Rick York noted that dere has been some information heard that lir. <br /> Kuusela may be pursuing a new grant in the area of the upper basin of Great River but <br /> nothing definite has been made public. <br /> 2. Harbormaster Report; No report as Perry Ellis is working with his staff on the water <br /> pulling floats and markers for the winter season. <br /> { <br /> . Shellfish Constable report: Rick York reported on the September 28 closure o <br /> shellfish areas due to run-off of rain. It was reported that 5.84 ' ofrain fell during that <br /> storm. Tests did not indicate any problems however the State closed all areas around the <br /> Cape Cod to shell fishing. They reopened them on October 'h. Rick York reported that <br /> scallop fishing has been poor, however he expects a good crop will be available next <br /> year, Rick York reported that the Santuit Pond algae bloom is continuing. Additional <br /> water quality test units will be set up in the pond shortly. Rick York noted that Mr. <br /> Kuusela i <br />
